On Wednesday Tuscaloosa was hit hard by a EF-5 tornado over a mile wide and crossed the city between the UA campus and the Interstate. It entereded on the west side of town, went through Forest Lake, Cedar Crest, Alberta and Holt. Over 40 people were killed and thousands lost homes.
We didn't know anyone seriously injured but had several friends that lost everything. We provided several meals to displaced families and students that found refuge with other friends on Thursday and Friday nights. Mostly we just fired up the grill and cooked all the meat from our freezer. I am not sure how long it will take our community to recover.

Maundy Thursday/ Passover Seder Meal
We attended a Christian Passover Service tonight and supplied several Kosher desserts "afikoman." Christians have added this afikoman element at the end of the traditional Hebrew Seder Meal to represent the sweetness of Redemption through the work of Christ that we celebrate during the Easter celebration. The Last Supper where Jesus instituted the sacrament of Holy Communion occurred during His final meal with His disciples as they celebrated the Passover together the night before His crucifixion.
Our afikoman consisted of spiced apple crisps, unleven sponge cake with a warm raspberry marmalade, a "Shehakol" which is a hazelnut chocolate brownie and some Sinai desert chocolate chip cookies. Everyone seemed to enjoy the evening and the food. We had the pleasure of our Pastor's Jewish neighbor attending and he added to the special meaning of the celebration of our spiritual forefathers.
